Getting Started

Welcome to Mappy

Mappy is an AI-powered map platform with four tools — Map Maker & Freeform, Measurement Tool, Overlay Comparison, and Route Planner. Here's how to get up and running.

1
Create your account
Go to mappy.app/auth.html and sign up with your email and password. Your account gives you access to all four tools and saves your work automatically across all your devices.
2
Choose your tool
From your Dashboard, you'll see four tools — Map Maker & Freeform (draw maps from scratch or freehand), Measurement Tool (analyse map images with AI), Overlay Comparison (compare two images side by side), and Route Planner (measure distances along a path).
3
Save your work
All tools auto-save every 30 seconds. You can also manually save and give your work a name. Everything appears in your Dashboard so you can come back anytime on any device.
4
Use the AI Assistant
The Measurement Tool has a built-in AI Assistant. Upload a map image, set your scale, and ask natural-language questions like "how long is the main road?" or "what is the area of this zone?" — the AI responds with measurements and confidence ratings.
💡 Tip: Start with the Measurement Tool — upload any map image and ask "how long is the main road?" to see Mappy in action.

📏 Measurement Tool

1
Upload your map image
Drag and drop or click to upload any map image. Supported formats: PNG, JPG, JPEG, WEBP.
2
Set the map type and unit
Select the map type and your preferred unit. For best accuracy, add a known reference — e.g. "the road at the top is 200 blocks long".
3
Ask your questions
Type natural-language questions like "How long is the main road?" or "What is the total area?" You can add multiple questions at once.
4
Get results and follow up
The AI returns measurements with confidence ratings (High / Medium / Low). Use the follow-up chat to ask more questions without re-uploading.
5
Save your measurement
Click Save measurement to store the results to your Dashboard including your image, questions, and all AI answers.

🔲 Overlay Comparison

1
Upload two images
Upload Image A (base) and Image B (overlay) using the left sidebar upload buttons.
2
Choose your comparison mode
Overlay — drag Image B on top with opacity control. Side by side — view both next to each other. Split slider — drag a divider to reveal each image.
3
Adjust controls
Use the Opacity, Scale, and Rotation sliders. Choose from six blend modes — Normal, Multiply, Screen, Overlay, Difference, and Luminosity.
4
Export or save
Click Export PNG to download the current view. Click Save comparison to save it to your Dashboard.

🛣 Route Planner

Upload your map
Upload any map image as the background. Supported formats: PNG, JPG, JPEG, WEBP.
2
Choose your drawing mode
Click points — click to place waypoints one by one. Freehand — click and drag to draw curved paths freely.
3
Set your real-world scale
Enter how many pixels equal one real-world unit. Mappy converts pixel distance into real-world units automatically in real time.
4
Read your distance
The sidebar shows total route distance in both pixels and real-world units, updated live as you draw.
5
Save or export
Click Save route to save to your Dashboard. Click Export PNG to download the map with your route on top.
💡 Tip: For the most accurate route measurements, zoom in on your map image before uploading so the path has more pixels to work with.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is Mappy free to use?
Yes! Mappy is free to use with no limits. Create an account and get access to all four tools — Map Maker & Freeform, Measurement Tool, Overlay Comparison, and Route Planner — completely free. We also offer a Mappy Pro plan for $2.99/month with additional features.
What image formats does Mappy support?
Mappy supports PNG, JPG, JPEG, and WEBP image formats. For best results, use high-resolution images (at least 800×600 pixels). Very large files (over 20MB) may load slowly.
How accurate are the AI measurements?
AI measurements are estimates based on the map type and context you provide. Accuracy improves significantly when you provide a known reference. Each result includes a confidence level — high, medium, or low.
Are my maps and images saved securely?
Yes. All your data is stored securely using Supabase with Row Level Security — meaning only you can access your own maps, measurements, comparisons and routes. We never share your data with third parties.
Can I use Mappy on mobile?
Yes! Mappy is designed to work on mobile. Map Maker & Freeform has a dedicated bottom toolbar for touch drawing. All other tools are also mobile-friendly. For the best experience, we recommend a tablet or desktop.
How do I delete my account?
Go to your Dashboard → Settings → Account → Delete account. This will permanently delete your account and all your data. If you need help, email us at supportmappy@gmail.com.
What is Mappy Pro?
Mappy Pro is our premium plan at $2.99/month or $24.99/year. It includes unlimited saves, unlimited AI questions, PNG/PDF/SVG export, dark mode and custom themes, full font picker, a Pro badge, priority support, and early access to new tools.
The AI isn't giving accurate results — what can I do?
For better results: (1) Select the correct map type. (2) Add a known reference measurement. (3) Be specific with your questions. (4) Use the follow-up chat to refine answers. If issues persist, contact us at supportmappy@gmail.com.
Can I export my maps?
Yes! All tools have an Export PNG button. Mappy Pro members can also export as PDF and SVG (coming soon).
